The Four Winds Ranch is situated on the high plains of the Black Hills of South Dakota, in the Midwest of the United States. We have an altitude of approximately 6,000 feet and a typically alpine climate.

The Ranch is located midway between Custer and Hot Springs and is about 14 miles from each town. It’s about 60 miles to the nearest city of any size - Rapid City, which also hosts the nearest commercial airport.

The ranch is surrounded by 300 acres of prairie and forest and in the summer months opens up to guests from all over the world. We have a beautiful campsite with tipis, tents and fireplaces scattered among the trees in the wonderful South Dakota outdoors.

The Ranch is privately owned by Tom & Christine Steuer, who are originally from the Alps of Bavaria, in southern Germany. They loved this part of the world so much that they decided to move here permanently and set up their dream ranch as a cultural exchange for visitors.

Four Winds Ranch has horses, dogs, cats and everything that you'd expect to find on a ranch, including lots of sunshine in the summer! We are conveniently located in the central Black Hills and a short distance to many interesting attractions, including Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain, Custer State Park, Jewel and Wind Caves and the Mammoth site among others.
